We were very hungry as other places we'd tried for lunch were closed. At 2pm the place was a little busy. I asked if we could have lunch and was told yes. We sat at a table and waited... and waited. 45 minutes later we grabbed a guy and got 2 beers. Another 15 minutes with no cover offered we grabbed another guy who told us what was left on the menu. We ordered shrimps ..... and then waited another half hour before paying for our beers and telling them to not bother with the shrimps which were still nowhere to be seen. VERY touristy place. We don't know what we'd done wrong to be treated.like this but we certainly won't be going back to Monte Gordo. Tavira is a wonderfully hospitable place!
We went for drinks and were served promptly. Great location right on the beach just behind the fishermen mending their nets, giving us something to watch whilst supping away. The cappuccino was OK and average priced at 1.50 euros not bad for the prime seaside location. The food looked good, but we had just eaten elsewhere. Being on the beach, your shoes get filled with sand. (Pet hate)
Ordered our food, waited 30 minutes, called waiter over and he said he forgot to put our order in, reordered, and then 20 minutes later we were brought food but not what we ordered. All tables were complaining, people walking out, waiters arguing on the floor, yelling coming from the kitchen. There are many nice places to eat in this town. Avoid this one.
