My mother and I ate in this restaurant a couple of years ago and enjoyed one of the best meals of venison (chasse in french) that we have ever eaten. So we were looking forward to going there again ... such a disappointment... The welcome was warmish (a bit too friendly to be authentic) and the place was spotless. There was a small but decent selection of wines by the glass and bottle. And we were keen to try one of two venison options on the autumn menu. When the plate appeared... we both politely glanced at the waiter .... to not effect. In front of us was a big white rectangle with 3 pieces of meat sat on a thin layer of red cabbage, six blobs of chestnut purée, 2 minuscule quarters of brussel sprout and one sliver of poached pear. The spätzli side was ... ok ... but didn't make up for the lack of consistency I would expect to find in an over 40 franc main course. Even the desert was a let down, consiting in partially reheated apple tarte tatin. One positive point ... to be fair, despite the lack of food on the plate, the meat was top quality and perfectly cooked. And we didn't try anything else on the menu so cannot comment on the overall offer. But, unfortunately, we won't be going back to try it...
