La Montagne Noire is a restaurant located in the little town called Saissac, in the South of France. I came here after visiting the Castle of Saissac to lunch in the very nice terrace. I decided to eat a daily menu and I choose local dishes like foie micuit as first dish, magret de canard (duck) as second dish abd creme brulée as dessert and I drank a rosé wine and Medieval sweet red wine. All was excellent, and the terrace very quite. Fantastic lunch in a hot summer days. Also, the staff was very friendly. (see also Chateau de Saissac and Église Saint-Michel)

We went to eat the lunch menu. Unfortunately two out of the three main course options were not available any more (which speaks to the restaurant's popularity even off season) so we had to take the option we wouldn't normally have gone for, and it was excellent. The owner is a vivid, very communicative and sociable person who lights up the place. We enjoyed our stay a lot both for the quality of the food and for the experience. Plus the main room of the restaurant is really cosy, and everyone respected the basic Covid protections.

Magret trop cuit (ils ne demandent pas la cuisson) Magret very overcooked (they did not ask how we would like it) Desert pannacotta tres tres bas de gammer. Very disappointing pudding of pannacotta which appeared to be made with fromage fraus and crushed biscuits. Saddened to have to give such a poor review, but this was a special day for the friend we took there. Desole d avoir a communiquer un temoinage si deplorable... Mais c etait une sortie speciale pour notre ami que nous avons conduit la bas.

Visited today with four children. Lovely welcome, they didn’t have a table for six made up so they pushed tables together to make one for us. Beautiful chalkboard menu. Delicious burgers, cassoulet, panacotta and ice-cream. Plenty of water for the table on such a hot day. Lovely staff that are attentive and efficient and speak effect English and French.
