The female order taker was extremely rude and started off with do you speak French and when I said yes but my husband does not she let out a sigh such a loud exasperate sigh. Needless to say, the rest of the evening showed that she didn’t have an ounce of civility every single thing was a hassle for her. All she wanted was to serve the large parties and the people that drank excessive amounts of alcohol. She was extremely rude and did not even know what the basics of customer service were. It was a miserable experience and even if the food was stellar which it was not I would never recommend this place! Awful! I informed our hotel that it was terrible! I hope she gets the same treatment when she visits a foreign land.

The Auberge was recommended to us by our AirBnB host we are grateful to him as we had an excellent meal. We were greeted by the chef and manager and given attentive service throughout our meal. Florence talked us through the details of the menu and gave a good suggestion for wine. She is knowledgeable and proud of the local produce and the quality of the food in each course was evident. I enjoyed an extremely good lamb dish for my main course and had the best Rhum Baba that I've possibly ever eaten. We enjoyed the best meal we've eaten in the area and highly recommend the Auberge for a great dining experience all round. And thank you too to Florence for her generous gastronomic gift as we left.

Lots of parking opposite this old roadside place. Pleasantly appointed dining room with well spaced tables. Friendly welcome from the lady owner whose husband is in the kitchen. Short but inventive menus; we ate a la carte and appreciated the focus and accuracy of the cooking: delicious, interesting but without too many 'twists '. Madame steered us knowledgeably through the wine list; service was well paced and professional while the cost was extremely reasonable for this level of cooking. We 'd go back tonight if we could.

This is a lovely traditional Auberge and worth a visit if you are staying in the Chinon area. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, especially the guinea fowl which we all had as a main course. The wine list was very extensive and could be expensive, unless you order the local wine by the pichet . We had a very enjoyable evening and the staff were very friendly we had enough English and French between us to get by!
