Don't expect white linen but a friendly welcome in this routier which is so well known that it may be better to reserve a table for lunch. The meal will of course provide a selection of 5 appetizers or more, a main dish, a generous serving of cheese and desert, most of them home made. We opted for the wild boar pate and eggs mayonnaise (served on a copious portion of potato salad) for starters and then I had a steak tartare and fries and my companion had beef bourguignon. Both were very satisfactory. The cheese board was comprised of a whole camembert and a wonderful piece of Coulommier. The desserts were home made pies and though the crust was light, it could have been a bit better cooked, we had banana rhubarb in a custard and apple pie with apple slices on top of applesauce. For the low menu price this was a bargain but also traditionally good.
We love to eat here on our way through France and base our trips around stopping here on the first night and last night. We've had many meals here over the years and have never been disappointed. The menu changes daily with lots of choices based on what is being cooked that day. €17.90 for 4 courses including wine is fantastic value. Good honest hearty French food. Truckers stop here but plenty of locals seem to love it too.
Passed this road side restaurant and immediately noticed how busy, and thought that must be good so we called in and found that it was good, in fact it was very good. Three course, plus cheese plus drink for 14 euros, and the food was really good, Great choices, great value. Does anybody know anywhere this side of the channel where you can do as well? Definitely worth a visit if you 're in the are!
The place is going through a refit and there's no signage on the building. But persevere A great value les routieres style roadside restaurant. Minutes from the A16. Blackboard menu simple fayre. €14:90 four courses and wine!!!!! Friendly service fast and hyper efficient. Just brilliant value.
