We had planned to stop here towards the end of a walk in the area - in itself, a recommended excursion, especially around Riessersee - with very little idea of what to expect, other than it is an Alm. Eventually we emerged out of the wood and came across the alm in a little clearing.We were quite surprised how big the restaurant is and, considering it was a sunny Sunday in June, how quiet it was. This certainly was not due to the food or the prices. We were presented with an extensive menu - the waitress realising we were talking English amongst ourselves, offered us English menus and even offered to try to speak English, although was patently relieved when we said we could talk in German! The Aule Alm is worth a visit and has a great view of the Waxenstein mountains. The home-made Kaiserschmarn is excellent and the prices are in order, not expensive. It is a nice walk from the Riessersee (Riesser Lake) for lunch at the Alm. The...only complaint is the service. One must wait too long for everything. Another server needs to be employed during busy times. The long wait is annoying and detracts from the good quality of the food and surroundings. Although pleasant, the decor could be more cozy, even outside, with a few blue and white Bavarian touches like tablecloths and Bavarian serviettes, for example.

This is a family business where obviously three generations work to please their guests. Large parking in the front this can be the starting point for a nice walk around Lake Riessersee. Good size portions, Bavarian home cooking and International. Landlord and owner is hunting,...so if you´re lucky you can get venison. You´ll find the restaurant close to the Alpspitz cable car station. Big place with a nice and sunny terrasse where they serve pies and homemade Apfelstrudel.
this is a family business where obviously three generations work to please their guests. large parking spaces on the front can be the exit point for a beautiful walk around the riessersee. good size shares, Bavarian home kitchen and international. renters and owners hunt...as if they have luck, they can get venison. the restaurant is located near the cable car station alpspitz. large place with a beautiful and sunny terrace where they serve cakes and homemade apfelstrudel.
