I was traveling through NorthEastern Michigan and was looking for good food and good beer. Ran across Austin Brothers Beer Company in Alpena. The food and beer menu looked good so I gave it a try....Well I can honestly say the food was fabulous...I had the Roadie burger...it was damn good and hit the spot...I tried a few samples of beer and sours...all were good but the Raspberry Vanilla Porter was my favorite....so much I bought some to take home. All and all the atmosphere was good and the staff was kind and attentive...even though they were slammed for lunch time!!! The price is more than fair for the quality and portions. I visited this restaurant during my M-23 tour and enjoyed a flight of 4 beers, each 5 ounces, along with an appetizer and a late dinner. The beers were all very good, with my favorite being the Sumo Sumatra. The appetizer I ordered was the white fish dip, which was incredibly large and could easily feed 4 people. The assortment of crackers and bread that came with it was fantastic. For my main course, I had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich with fries, which was excellent. The restaurant had both indoor and outdoor bar seating, as well as flattop seating. The decor had a log cabin/wood theme and the restaurant was very clean with great service. They also offered free wifi and had pre-packaged...
ALLERGY ALERT The server told me, after she checked with the cook, when attempting to place my order that this restaurant cooks all its menu items on the same flat top. They cook the shellfish on the same flat top as everything else. While they are no longer deep frying the shellfish, I was informed the oil may be a source of cross contamination. I ended up leaving without being able to eat as all menus items may experience cross contamination. Be aware of this restaurant if you have food allergies.
I'm not a beer girl, but it was pleasant! Pulled pork was ok, prime rib sammich and the poutine WAS THE BOMB .COM!!! Update, 9/23/23, awesome food, awesome drinks! Large group , we ordered, pretzel bites, cheese curds, chicken nachos, poutine fries, cheese steak, 2brisket sandwiches and a chicken bacon ranch sandwich. All if it was amazing! And good portions for the price! Also would recommend the peach slush and cherry . Réservez une table maintenant
We stopped by for a couple of beers on a Thursday around 7pm and they were packed. However, the staff was friendly and worked well together to get everyone served. They have a great outside patio and beer garden with lots of seating. The beers werefantastic!! We also stopped by for lunch the next day when it wasn't so busy. The food was fantastic! Great brewery!!
Good beer and good food. We had the mushroom sandwich and the tri-tip sandwich with fries. Both were good. We will be returning to try more beers. I have been to many micro breweries around the country and have found most to be very good. I would put thisone in the middle somewhere. It was a little pricey but worth the stop.
