We decided to make a fun day trip to the central valley from the Bay area. If you have never been to Oakdale, it’s the “cowboy capital of the world”. Don’t worry the city is very modernized. Be sure to check out the Cowboy museum and then a delicious meal at Backwoodsburgers afterward. The garlic fries were delicious and the marshmallow sauce dip made for a great sweet/savory treat. We ordered the Southwest salad, one with grilled chicken and the other with pulled pork. Chicken was dry, pulled pork ok. The meager amount of red bell peppers and cherry tomatoes were too big for a bite and had to be cut with a plastic knife, no real cutlery given! Ordering at registers and given a number at our table felt like a very “fast food” vibe and tipping before food was even served is inappropriate, especially when it’s pretty much a cafeteria feel.
Had a great lunch! The staff was super friendly, the food was amazing and the place was clean and inviting. We had the Tumbleweed Burger and the Big Kauna Burger with Cajun fries and Portuguese beans. I found this hamburger gem in Oakdale, where I rarely go to eat. Looked up restaurants in Oakdale and found Backwoods Burgers. It was the best hamburger I have eaten in years. Fries were delicious. We will definitely be back.My only disappointment was that they do not sell milkshakes. . . .Backwoods Burgers, please add milkshakes to the menu. It will be a great seller. Fries a milkshake to dip them in...... yum!!

This restaurant requires you to pay before you sit down. It feels like a blend of Red Robin and Burger King. There are no pasta options available, which is unusual since I typically expect at least one pasta dish on the menu at burger joints. However, I understand this place is not conventional. The atmosphere is delightful, featuring string lights and outdoor seating, and the food is quick for takeout.
I only go here for the sweet potato fries because they're good and come with a marshmallow sauce. That's what saves this place, oh and their service is great....Their burgers and other sides, however, don't taste fresh. Meats taste like are over cooked and warmed up several times. Zucchini is another of my favorites sides but unfortunately not here, they're stale.

I tried Backwoods Burgers for the first time, and I enjoyed it! The burger sliders were delicious, and I also liked the sweet potato fries and zucchini sticks. The garlic fries were decent, but they are the thin type, which may not be everyone's preference.

The pretzel bun sliders and sweet potato fries are absolutely phenomenal! They're a bit on the expensive side, but definitely worth every penny!
