We wanted to have a quick lunch and since there were not many tourists sitting outside we took a seat. 5 min waiting to get the menu, we ordered beer and it came on time. Than waited 15min to get somebody to order main course. After the raising question: Can we order? We got the answer YES but waited another 5 -7min. I wanted to leave the restaurant but my wife was more patient. I ordered salat and my wife fish. Regardless we mentioned both are main courses they brought me salad first and after another 10-12 min my wife got the fish. What a surprise not with house made potatos but with rice. Restaurant is both inside and outside. The outside is on two sides, one in full public view, the other a small and quiet alcove of a few tables approached from the street leading away from the river. It does not have a front onto the...river which is an advantage as all the river restaurants were very crowded and I suspect the service would have been slower. here the service was prompt, and friendly . Staff speak english. Food was simple and served quite quickly. There did not appear to be any desserts other than ice creams. The menu included some indian dishes.
My wife has an excellent piece of veal (Swiss origin) that was presented at the table raw so we could choose the size and piece to cut. Was perfectly cooked! I had the small Swiss river fish; "Egli filet" a la meuniere! Excellent service and wine suggestions! Can definitely reccommend it. NB we ate inside at a not very crowded time so the staff had good time to take care of us.
We have a quick lunch in this restaurant when our cruise ship arrived Stein am Rhein. The restaurant has both indoor or open sittings while in the latter case, you could have better views on the riverside. The food in general was acceptable with reasonable price but the staff were a bit slow in action as we have to hurry up with our tour elsewhere.

Stayed here for dinner and had excellent original 'Bouillabaisse' with selfmade rouille and fresh fruit salad. Next to fabulous Swiss and European dishes, the chef, who has 4 Golden Fish awards, also cooks various delicious Indian meals. I wish them success and many more happy...More

Terrace is just off the lakefront promenade, but one can still see the Rhein. Excellent food, including a delicious asparagus salad and very fresh fish. Friendly service.

Excellent cordon blue, I had rinds carpaccio for a starter, which was amazing and the beef tenderlion had the perfect colour. Definitely coming back again.
Amazing food and excellent service with a lovely view of the castle. well priced and good portions. highly recommended.
