Visiting the beautiful Emmental area I had dinner here thanks to the positive reviews. Located a few minutes from the railway station, Bären is an impressive and beautiful house typical of the Emmental region. Thumbs up to Ursula for the very friendly and efficient service. The menu is Swiss traditional with focus on regional produce. I started with the tasty Fränzis Salat (named after the owner 's wife Fränzi) green salad with scrambled eggs and parmesan. As main course I chose the pan fried Entlebuch trout fillets: generous and delicious portion, fish was perfectly prepared. I ended my dinner with a homemade strawberry tart which proved quite good. In high price Switzerland the bill remained pleasantly moderate amounting to CHF75. Overall very good value for money.
