The texture of the bagel and the service was good. The bagels are chewy and fresh. The cream cheese was also very creamy. I found the bagels too salty though. Not sure if this is characteristic of this store's bagels. I had a quarter of a strawberry bagel and a blueberry bagel with plain cream cheese. An excessive saltiness and absence of any appreciable strawberry other than the hue of the bagel was disappointing, so I requested a replacement blueberry bagel, and they graciously obliged. The blueberry bagel shared the saltiness sadly. Both the strawberry and blueberry were drowned out by the saltiness of the dough. It's not extreme, but it disturbs additional flavors of the bagels.
Very disappointed with this location. I was in the area and usually go to the one off El toro road and always have a great experience there. This location was a mess. 1st off, most of the staff seemed miserable and/or over the fact that they have to work. They worked very slow and seemed out of it. Also, the bagels we 're not made well. See my picture for the cinnamon crunch bagel. I opened this after I left and to my surprise is was doughy and not cooked, even after it was toasted. Management, you need to either train your staff on quality (food preparation AND service) OR work on hiring people who have pride in what they do.
My first time going into the Bagel Shack. I will definitely be going back. I ordered the veggie bagel and loved it. It was huge and came with a pickle. Game changer right there. They added bagel chips with I’m assuming Asiago cheese crisped on them bravo. The staff was polite and looked as if they enjoyed what they were doing. I will be adding them to my lunch spots from now on. Kudos to management for paying attention to details.
Best bagel we have had in OC. Luckily they just moved even closer to our place : it’s still a (few step(s down overall from what we were used to in NYC but I feel they have continued to improve over the last year so kudos to them! We are grateful to be able to get some high quality bagels for sure. My go to is the everything bagel, bacon egg and cheese with tomato.

This place deserves a much lower rating than a bagel shop should. The employees here seem indifferent and don’t care at all. There's a complete lack of consistency—every time I try to give it another chance, I'm consistently disappointed. It’s frustrating to spend my money hoping for an improvement, but after this experience, I’m officially done.
Pros:
- The bacon is excellent
- They have great salt bagels
- Decaf espresso is available
- There’s a good selection of bagels even at noon on a Sunday
- Ample indoor and outdoor seating
Cons:
- The coffee was decent, but my wife’s latte seemed to have more milk than coffee
- The fresh orange juice was okay, but a bit watered down
Fresh bagels baked daily. Good bagels, especially love the hot breakfast bagel sandwich options! One favorite is the Lowers: eggs, cheddar cheese with optional bacon. Generous portion of bacon! Lots of other options available. Good selection of bagels and cream cheese. Try the cheddar Jalapeño! Great spot for a quick bite or bagels to go!
Busy on a Saturday morning. Quick and great service though. I got an everything bagel with cream cheese. It was good, but nothing special. I wish I would’ve got a breakfast sandwich; those looked much better!

They have delicious bagels! I tried the toasted cinnamon bagel with cream cheese, and it was fantastic. I'm looking forward to sampling their sandwiches next!
