Rain, Rain and MORE Rain…Where do I begin??? The ENTIRE restaurant staff was attentive, personable and present for our EVERY need. The restaurant was ADA regulated (a plus when traveling with an elderly parent). From the greeter Kyle to our server Erin and every staff member who passed our table An absolute ray of sunshine! I almost forgot it was raining outside. The restaurant was friendly the LIGHTING was welcoming (large print menus a plus), the decor set the atmosphere like I was dinning on a Pier or a Waterfront restaurant. Delicious meal! Our waitress, Christin, was great! I had 2 appetizers as my meal. 1/4 shrimp cocktail and the portobello mushroom sandwich with asparagus, crab and Brie cheese (no bun). Great portion for both. My husband had the manhattan clam chowder which he said was amazing! Had the sirloin for dinner which was great as well. We split the fried cheesecake for dessert and that was so good! They should have recipe cards on each table with that cheddar horseradish dip
I enjoy dining at Balch's. The owner grows and uses the freshest veggies and herbs. For the Octoberfest, I ordered the Weiner schnitzel. My experience with this dish in Germany was that it was made with veal. I was surprised that the chef uses pork. I was also surprised that the menu did not include bratwurst. Otherwise, I think they do a fine job pleasing the customer.
I’m a local. Sometimes we forget just how good our local places are. Balch’s never disappoints. It’s more than just fried fish. Their burgers are large and juicy, their roast beef is made in house. Their fried calamari rivals any Italian eatery in the area and surpasses most. Why? The breading is light the marinara is on point and they have tentacles!

The side dishes were especially great! The side of rice medley I got was huge! And really good! And the side of pasta was equally huge and hearty. My main dish the clam strips meal was good and an ample portion. Nothing served was fancy or incredible or exquisite, but everything was good and filling. The servers were all friendly and happy.
We are repeat customers! Food is great! Good sized meal portions! Great waitress! Crab wrap, Bang Bang Shrimp, Crab cake sandwich, Asian Salad with shrimp was very good! Cheesecake tortilla and Apple Fritter were so delicious and huge!!! Good prices! We will be back!!!
We had the broiled seafood platter, Asian chicken salad and crunchy shrimp dinner. Food was very good and they give you lots if it. With all the sides they give you I had to take some of it home. Bathrooms are clean and wait staff are friendly and helpful..
Great food with plenty of tasty food. Had the fish fry dinner and steak w/ crab cakes dinner. We enjoyed everything and had plenty to take home. Waitress, Christina, was so very nice and friendly.

Been going for years. Always consistent and good. Service is great. Wine is pricey but it seems every restaurant is raising prices. The food prices are up about 25%.
The windows on the street side were filthy and needed to be cleaned. Mens room floor was slippery.
