Once you have the foot on the antique tile doorstep and open the doors the sweet smells of Ballyhoo great your nostrils and immediately after your taste buds start water for what candy await in this shop. The store had an old time vibe with a counter of candy and treats, left is a small dining area with tables and chairs, but the real price is the series of ice flavors served in homemade waffles and bowls. We talk about flavors like Peanut Butter Banana Graham, Tandy Cake, Fudge Pretzel and the list goes on. You have a complete menu of sunflowers and splits, malt and swimmers. This place is a jewel! The staff is very friendly and attentive. Our server made great suggestions of old-fashioned banana split, chocolate malted shake and fun sunflowers for the children. We ate in the larger room, which is authentically restored in the early 1900s style. The children (and adults) loved the candy counters. So many choices rows of glass glasses. Things you can't find in any other local business, mummy penguins and crocodiles, British wine gums, any kind of candy, candy bars that I thought were no longer done, I could go on. We filled three paper bags for $4.45. If you've always wanted to translate the Candyman scene from Willy Wonka, go to Ballyhoo!
We absolutely enjoy visiting Ballyhoo whenever we have the opportunity. My favorite dish is the Spumoni Sundae. I paid an extra .85 for additional slivered almonds, but it seems to be the standard amount that they normally include when I don't request additional toppings. The White House Cherry dessert is not actually made with White House cherries anymore. It used to be, but it seems like they switched suppliers. My mom refuses to order the White House Cherry because it now contains maraschino cherries. Overall, dining in at the restaurant is much more enjoyable than getting delivery, as the experience and delicious aromas are a million times better.
It was there for the first time. Like other reviews. It was like a step in the past. Great service. There was an old national cash register. Pretty cool. Ice and penny candies for nickel was nice. Great choice. Support for local business. It's worth it. Children had a great time.

The atmosphere, ice and service are much more than 5 stars. Although it is a 40-minute drive from home, ballyhoos makes it completely worth it. I can't wait until my son is old enough to eat ice cream, I'm sure we'll be there weekly!
Really cute ice cream shop! It feels like you stepped back in time. The ice cream was delicious, the selection was awesome and so were the prices. Also, loved the old-time candy. We grabbed a $2 mystery bag and felt like kids again.
The food was fantastic! I'm about to order more. The chocolate marshmallow shake paired perfectly with the worms in the dirt dessert.
I ordered a butter pecan ice cream cone and it arrived within 10 minutes. The dessert was delicious.
