Went for dinner with my son, his girlfriend (yes, his girlfriend even they deny it! and his Mom 2.0 (seriously there's another mom as great as me?! Actually she is pretty great as is her daughter who joined us as well. We had a fun night in Sylvan Lake going on the Aqua Splash and going Paddle Boarding and then we were all starving for dinner and I had had Bamboo Hut in my sights for awhile for a group dinner. We ordered the dinner for four so that we could try a number of options. The dinner for four comes with 8 Crispy Pork Spring Rolls, a choice of soup, Crispy Dry Pork Ribs or Chili Wings and a choice of three entrees. We chose the Tom Yum Soup, the Chili Wings and as our entrees the Mon...

Bamboo Hut used to be really good. It's been a couple of years since I was here last and it's still pretty decent, but not quite what it was. I recently ordered the Pad Thai and it is still top notch. They still make excellent Thai food. Although I was disappointed that they no longer make Thai iced tea, their menu is still filled with all the classics that Thai lovers enjoy. As far as food quality is concerned, this place ranks well above average. The service wasn't bad it was average. The host who seated us and the waitress who served us were always very civil. Were they passionate about their jobs? Are they led by an inspirational leader? No. They were just people doing their jobs. The at...

Dany's Lakeside Curry is one of the best seafood dishes I've enjoyed with a medium heat spice. The Cashew Chicken Stir Fry has a nice sweet sauce with peppers, onions and cashews. Both portions were decent and satisfying. The salad rolls for an appetizer come with a delicious peanut sauce while the roll itself was a little chewy. Service didn't take long and was courteous, but not warm and friendly...more like just doing a job. The ambience was strange with M&M rap music. The decor is fine with some interesting wall bamboo art. For a blustery chilly day, Bamboo Hut was a nice spot to warm up with curry.

This seems to be the only Thai place in the tiny town of Sylvan Lake, and while it 's not up to the standard of some of the places I can get in Edmonton, it was pretty decent. Certainly you 'd have to drive for a bit to find better Thai nearby. We got ours to take out; the interior didn 't look particularly atmospheric. There was a wall full of best ethnic food in Sylvan Lake type certificates also, which is a good sign. Anyway, if you 're in the area and craving Thai, this is the place for you!

We had searched on line for the best Vietnamese food in the area and was directed to the Bamboo Hut as top rated. We have eaten Vietnamese food many times so we are aware of the variety of ways the same dish can be served. The salad rolls were huge lettuce wraps at most. The rice wrap was tough to chew. The wonton soup was ok at best. The Monster Bowel was also just ok. The the vegetables were not crisp and fresh, the meat on skewers was tough and burnt on the ends.

Simply the best dining option in Sylvan Lake, good quality and super consistent. Only issue is the slow times for pick up and delivery. 45 mins to an hour wait for pick up is a little high. Especially when it's not at peak times. Even then, that's minor when you have so few quality options in a town like this particularly during tourist season. If you're one of the few that haven't tried the Bamboo Hut you won't be disappointed.

Great to have a more ethnic option in Central Alberta! Bamboo Hut offers Cambodian cuisine, like a cross between Vietnamese and Thai. The restaurant is small but well appointed. I tried the Thai green curry chicken. The sauce was nicely spiced with a slow build and the chicken was generous. My one complaint is that there was no eggplant to be found, despite being listed as an ingredient.

This place is still a five. Great service. Great food. I was in there for lunch the other day and come noon, the small restaurant was full. While restaurants come and go in Sylvan, this one deserves business and staying power.

Excellent meal, we always order more than we can eat and take home leftovers, nothing on the menu is bad! It's out favourite place and it's right behind the Big Moo in Sylvan Lake, AB
