Opted for the 'Feed Me' option, all surrounding tables also appeared to be eating the same. Everything went downhill after the starters. Two mains served, both tasteless and uninteresting and both paired with a very unusual salad. We sat with our table uncleared from mains for far too long, only to be cleared when asked if we would mind moving to another table to finish our meal as there was an 'elderly' group of 4 who wished to sit at our table, otherwise she could just 'make them wait'...well I think that group of patrons would be most surprised and insulted to hear themselves descr...
This place is forever in Melbourne Foodie pages as being one of the greatest cafes around. Well the day we went there it must have been having a day off! There were no seats inside & it was a cold windy day however we were shown outside! The tables & chairs were like from a junk shop or garage sale - uncomfortable& tatty. We ordered a bottle of wine & a beer. The beer showed up but the wine never did & that set the tone for our lunch. Whilst I can recommend the beef skewer starter, one of the best starters in Melbourne, the rest of the food at Bang Bang is simply over-priced cheap cuts of meat - chicken wings and beef cheek. The food doesn't taste bad, but it's mediocre at best. One thing that I have spotted in a couple of Melbourne restaurants, the staff suggesting they will get you something small to 'taste' from the kitchen, only to find it ending up on the bill at the end of the meal. In a game where it's often seen as embarrassing to request something to be removed from the menu, this behaviour is not nice and frankly dishonest. Look it might have been , that the day before i had been to supernormal, and that was so phenomally good , but i was really let down by this restaurant.We went for lunch and the menu was limited.. I thought the food was bland , the service so so .. It was a bummer , cos i usually check trip advisor before i go anywhereThis time i didnt , when i did afterwards .. The reviews were blah..So serves me right ..When it first opened everyone was telling me how good it is... For over $100 per head I expected more. The food was nice but not wow. We had the "feed me" option and would have been better ordering ourselves both in terms of choices and value for money. Worst of all they still got the order wrong and we had to add "French fries" to our order to fill us up. Got the bill before the desert. No water was offered at anytime during our meal. Service started well until we ordered then completely disappeared. Won't be back in a hurry. Melbourne had too many good restaurants to waste time on a disappointing evening.
Friend & myself decided to give this relatively newly renovated venue a go !Staff attentive and service is above the usual standard , ambiance I great , however prices are a little on the high side for the area !Maybe time will reflect some change in this policy , must admit staff know the menus well , great effort will come back in time after a settlement of all , keep up the great work !Cheers peter
Walked in and the bar man told me to take a seat wherever I wanted. I couldn't help but notice that not one table where customers were sitting had food or drinks on it. Not a good sign... sat down and waited for 15 minutes. Waitress never even came over to give me a menu. Walked out and went to the Goat House down the road where I was given a menu as soon as I sat down. Lift your game Bang Bang.
Lovely relaxing environment for lunch and were not hurried along as in alot of other places. It was a girls catch up lunch and the perfect place for it. We had the smoked trout quinoia salad and the mushroom on brioch which were both very good. The Pinot Blanc was great and a reasonable price. All in all a nice lunch experience with service that couldn't be faulted.

Second review of Bang Bang In my 1st review I said if they did not do something with the outside area it would open to the wintry elements 'their reply was they would have it in hand" Unfortunately this is not the case; cold and blustery outside with little in the way of outside heating and the cold seems to transfer inside with the set up the restaurant
