We had lunch here due to it's location. We were in town to see the castle and have a little fun at the festival. This restaurant served typical German fare at typical German prices. The kids enjoyed the usual schnitzel, bratwurst, fries, and cokes. I was a bit more adventurous and ate my lunch with a great view of the castle out the window. We were actually the only ones to eat inside while the beer garden was packed with eaters. The desserts looked good but our lunch portions were large enough to leave no room for sweets. No one spoke English but the service was fast and friendly. If you are in town to see the sights, this is a good place to cool your heels and relax.

My husband I took this past holiday weekend to visit this Burg Trifles. Upon coming back down the restaurant of Barbarossa was open for lunch. Not only greeted warmly they had a second menu in English. Food was fantastic and portion size more than ample we could have split a meal. Great Steak, with garlic and butter sautéed onions perfectly cooked . My husbands Snitzel in Rum mushroom gravy sauce was perfectly cooked . Add the Pom frites and great salads we were so happy our Hosts were open.

Typical German food. Not the best I've had, but it was a good price for the amount they serve you. Nine Euro for a two schnitzels and salad. The outdoor seating is nice. A nice place to cap off you trip to the castle.
Stay healthy.....better to walk around and savor the nice castle "Trifels" and the wonderfull forest around
