Visited with extended family over Christmas period. In a nutshell after waiting minutes to get served and order food, told minutes later several items not available. Then waited another hour for food to all come out at different times and sides mixed...up. To top it off the food was mostly cold or burnt and looked like it had been thrown on a plate. Over spent on a terrible meal with staff (not enough staff unable to cope with the volume of customers. As for what's happening in the kitchen doesn't bear thinking about! Wouldn't return or recommend. Not to eat anyway you're probably safe for a drink, lovely old pub, such a shame.
We called in here yesterday morning for a quick breakfast before heading into town. I’m vegetarian so it was a pleasant surprise to see that they offered a full English with vegetarian sausages that actually tasted nice for once as I’ve been to other pubs...and they usually taste like plastic or are really over cooked. Looking forward to going back again in the very near future to try other items on the menu!
We have an annual get-together with former work colleagues, and eat at the Barley Mow. Usually we look for the two meals discounts, but this is the first time we've had the Christmas Menu. I would definitely recommend this place, as I have been with my partner, friends and family numerous of times and the service is amazing and the staff are really friendly and helpful! The food and drinks are delicious and are great value for money. I...love the home made fire too! Very cosy!
