Barron's bistro has two options for seating - on the railway platform (proper tables on a rail platform ie. undercover and outdoors) or in the old converted train carriages. Both seemed pretty cool to try. We opted for the platform. We were there for Friday dinner and they had a two man band playing music, which I loved! It really enhanced the relaxing atmosphere, as it wasn't too loud so you could still have a conversation. The waitress was very friendly but as the only staff member waiting the tables, sometimes it was hard to get her attention/find her. I ordered the steak and veg and was very happy with my meal. Four of us dined here last night. We sat in the aircon carriage and it was a cozy and unique cabin. Entrees of coconut prawns were first rate and antipasti platter a large serving. For mains we had rib fillet reef and beef along with pork belly. Everything cooked perfectly and generous portions left us full. We ordered a side of beer battered chips but they actually were wedges which I wasn't expecting. The night finished with some baileys and an affogato. Great night with great friends and I can highly recommend you try for yourself.
Farewell dinner before leaving Cairns. Younger sister had been here a few times and said the food and service was fantastic. Couldn't agree more. We had tables in the covered outdoor dining area which is very nice. There is also a train carriage set up for dining. We all enjoyed our meals except for my nieces who had the pork belly which they said were a little dry. Still, I would recommend this place for a visit. Wonderful
A wonderfully modest and inexpensive restaurant in Freshwater to Kuranda Train Station with a wide selection on the menu and very friendly staff. I recommend a meal in one of the old train cars air conditioned Big Breaky a real...Meal! Yes! You have smoothed some bumps that were part of a start, but it's all good now As a customer since the opening I was happy to get them together and enjoy the diversity.

We sat in the front courtyard. A few bushes would be great to make it more protected from road noise. Food and service was great. We had the healthy breakfast and classic. Both very good. Best bacon. Staff were friendly and efficient. Prices very reasonable. Coffee was good as well. Good variety on the menu. Book of larger party on weekend. Looking forward to trying the dinner menu next time.
Came here for a nice relaxing weekend Brekkie, and while the staff are very friendly, the food is not worth the price. My Missus added her breakfast grilled mushrooms and for $3, got *one* slice of *one* big mushroom. If you go to Coles... and notice that portobello mushrooms sell for $12 a kilo, which means a food brand-up in the 1,000s of percent. Not impressed he's not back.
We had the antipasto for starters- excellent and great combo of tastes. Mains were pork belly, salt and pepper squid and salmon. All were lovely and would recommend them. The meals were all larger served than usual, but managed to eat it all.
The food and service is great. However, it is quieter so several times we have been there hasn't been much atmosphere. The great food does out weigh this though! Plus it's affordable which is a bonus for great food.

We've been here for Father's Day, a party of three adults and two children. The food was good and the location was conveniently past with the addition of the Kuranda train.
Accidently went for State of Origin night. Food was great and the staff were busy but friendly. Kids are well catered for and meals were served promptly. Will return
