This little strip in Carnegie was surprisingly busy and I was lucky to get a car park around the back. Basilico was just as busy as the rest of the area, fortunately we had a reservation for six. The staff were friendly and helpful even though they were under the pump. Service times were what you'd expect on a busy night so we had plenty of time for stimulating conversation. My chicken cacciatore was great with the sauce giving off a lovely aroma which was infused into the chicken. My wife had the seafood risotto which she said was pretty good. Others at the table all enjoyed their meals as well. We finished off by sharing some desserts which wound up a very satisfying evening.
We really enjoyed our meals. I had the Basilico Special pizza, good quality ingredients and cooked well. My friend is fructose intolerant and so has a number of restrictions to her diet including no garlic, onion or gluten. The chef was happy to put her pasta dish together without her problem foods. In fact, it was really easy from the ordering through to the eating. She said her meal was delicious.The staff were friendly and competent.The restaurant has a lot of seating but doesn't feel cramped. There was a relaxed atmosphere with a mixture of groupings.There is space for wheelchairs so I would recommend it for people with disabilities.
Greeting was pleasant, Our waitress was Lovely.We had to leave just after ordering Veal Scallopini, Chicken Schnitz & Chicken Parma...It came with salad and chips. Fresh Produce used for sure. We are owners of Fruit & Veg shops, nice quality. Thank you. It was my birthday we were supposed to go to Stokehouse for dinner but our son was unwell... we thought a local place might be better, just in case. Ended up we did have to leave, food was great even out of take away containers 15mins later. Pizza base was requested thin and that is exactly as it was - yum.The chefs and pizza makers looked authentic as opposed to cheap labour.
I read the reviews on here and thought this would be a half decent local Italian food place. Should have realised when I saw non- Italians cooking the food that it wouldn't be that way. The only waiting staff was too busy cleaning the glasses to care about taking the order. We ordered the toblerone cocktail and it was disgusting. The food was average. I would rate it about 4/10. It surprises me that Melbourne has amazing Italian food but places like this can still get away with such average food and charge good money for it. I would eat crust pizza any day over their pizzas.

The aromatic smell of fresh herbs and spices hits you as you enter through the doorway. The food is tasty.. and the homemade Gnocchi Matriciana is delicious... Excellent service ...thanks Mayble... You have to try the Woodfired "pizzette dolci" for dessert - Banana and Honey - served with vanilla ice cream, topped with icing sugar. All finished with an Affogato - Expresso with Ice Cream
The pizza dough will toughen quickly once out of the oven.I picked up a few and rushed them home about 5mins away, i was unable to eat the crusts as they had become too tough,very very dry dough.Also the anchovies were the cheap fury kind, not the nice white one's i was expecting,considering the price paid.Another fancy restaurant franchise = Boring.
Great to find a great place that is open Monday's. Ambience is very nice, food delicious. Only negetive is cockade is $7 per bottle with I think is a bit much. Had three yummy courses and service was excellent.
Service terrific, desserts terrific and all good. However, the pizzas for the 6 of us were all burnt and hard and crusty. Stick to the more quality pizzas nearby in future

A bit like cafe primo to be honest! Ok food at a reasonable price,pizzas are good though! Food is slow enough when it's quiet so if it's busy I'd walk on
