Two weeks ago my wife and I went to Basilico Cafe, Prospect for an early dinner. We love the ambience of the cafe and the beautiful blue pizza oven. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and given a table by the window. We looked at...the extensive menu. The range of pizzas (as well as other dishes and specials) is quite extensive and it took a little while for my wife and I to agree as to what we were going to have. We decided on the Supreme pizza with anchovies and the roast lamb pizza. The presentation of the pizzas was fabulous and they tasted delicious. We ordered beer, lemon lime bitter, vegetrian pizza, and a schnitzel with fries. The pizza was good. The mushroom were fresh. The olives weren't overpowering. It was nice! Sadly, it stopped there. Their schnitzel have this funny taste must be from an herb I can't figure out what. The chicken was dry. The lemon lime bitter doesn't taste good either. Tastes like cough syrup.The toilet is a concern for me. It is way back out of the restaurant in a dark corner and has access from the neighborhood. Adults, don't let yout kids or girls go to the toilet by themselves. What if some lunatic assualts your loved one.I might eat there again but would only order pizza as it is wood oven baked.
If you are a fan of pizza you must try this little hidden treasure!! Wood fired oven pizza that compares to pizza you would eat in Italy! Utterly delicious & great value for the money! Their garlic pizza is an absolute must try! All the components are fabulous! Great base, great sauce, fresh, quality & select ingredients where less topping is sooo much more. Who even knew that this nondescript little place that I have passed for a couple of years would sell the best pizza in Adelaide!
Using a Scoopon, we ventured to Basilico for Breakfast. Staff were polite. A basic menu. The big breakfast, bacon, 2 eggs of choice, 1 sausage (2 on menu) spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and served with marinara sauce - spread over a large plate and was warm, not hot. Coffee was good. Lots of flies in the place. Toilet was outside and around a corner. Limited parking at rear. We won't be returning. Réservez une table maintenant
