After an exhausting day of travelling to Zurich from Italy, and then navigating our way from Zurich HB to our Neiderdorf hotel through thousands of Züri Fäscht revellers, we discovered Bauern Schänke. Thank goodness for this beautiful restaurant! A small menu of extraordinary food with...a very well matched wine restored our sanity and our faith in Zurich. The meal was beautifully cooked, clever food full of flavour. As well, the service was just exceptional our server looked after us with such warm care and attention, and our complete and shocking lack of German was no obstacle at all. We cannot fault the experience and thank the staff at Bauern Schänke for a memorable evening in Zurich!
Absolutely loved our meal here. Got a table outside after our hotel concierge called over for a spot. It was a total European moment as the sun set behind the medieval buildings with a gentle stream of passers by. Highlight meal of our trip even compared with Maison Manesse. We went with the chef’s surprise menu and it was stellar beginning to end. I’m gluten free and they subbed out bread with a lovely gf option. Our server also recommended a fantastic wine for our meal and the cocktail I had to start might be the drink of the summer! Highly recommended. Everything that went by to other tables looked fabulous too and I wanted to go back to try more.
I was here couple of years ago and i liked it. However in 2020 it is terrible. Overpriced and not tasty. I took eggplant tatar for 29 CHF. They brought only three small crackers and asked already by taking an order if we want some...bread for 6 CHF). So for lunch without any alcohol we paid 45 chf per person and we were still slightly hungry. But the worst thing is there are some rice waffels parts in the tatar that look like worms
We love this place! Very cozy restaurant, service is down to earth, not like all the wannabe posh Zurich places with arrogant waiters and prices out of whack. The concept is to order different plates and share among the party. The food is excellent (Chef...top rated , very creative contemporary. Plates are bit small and prices are ok considering Zurich standards : . Helpful? Thumbs up!

We had our civil wedding lunch there at the end of January 2023 and it was perfect: from the communication for the organisation (thank you Philipp) to the reception and service (thank you Chloe and Steffi), the natural wine and of course the dishes full of creativity and respect for the product. Some of our guests even went back in the following weeks and we will also come back soon.
One of the best meals I've had in recent memory, and the restaurant experience as a whole was delightful! A great location and the service was kind and helpful. The meal was a modern and elevated take on local cuisine, which fit perfectly what I was hoping for. A perfect spot for a special occasion or even just a quality night out.
Amazing, inventive food. The fennel with goat cheese and bonito flakes was revelatory! And the halibut with hazel nuts and salmon roe was exceptional. Very interesting wines by the glass, with great advice from a knowledgeable server.
every year we go back to the cranials to eat wild. Unfortunately this year the fine pumpkinravioli with poppy missed as an appetizer. we enjoyed eating very much, and the wee was good too!

who is looking for a simple, good midday to fair trips in the village is very well served here. one of the most recent quarters, without moderate or chicimicki influx. very recommended.
