I used to live in Costa Mesa over 10 years ago. Discovered this place shortly before moving back to Santa Barbara. It was in my top 3 places of food that I miss. Now whenever I have to go back down south I make sure to plan for a large order pick-up. Owner Gary and his staff are always on point with my large catering style orders. This barbecue restaurant in Costa Mesa is above average, but my experience was a bit of a mixed bag. They chop their brisket rather than slice it, which makes it tricky to eat in a sandwich, especially on a soft Hawaiian roll. The coleslaw I had was vinegar-based rather than mayonnaise-based, resulting in a rather bitter flavor that didn't appeal to me. The baked beans were decent, but they can't compete with Lucille's. Great food! The ?redneck fries? were my favorite. Rated a 3 stars because the service wasn?t very good. They messed up our order twice and then told us if we wanted our original order we had to pay the $9 difference. I feel like normally at restaurants they would?ve comped it when it was their fault. So overall not pleased with the customer service but the food was good!
Absolutely amazing every single time! I never knew just how much I loved this type of cuisine. The quality is outstanding, and the atmosphere is truly unique. The customer service is the best you will ever encounter. The chef even takes the time to check in with customers regularly, and the staff is incredibly sweet and helpful. I won't go anywhere else for BBQ!
What a charming little spot! I enjoyed the best BBQ in Orange County. Our group ordered brisket, sausage, pulled pork on bread, burnt ends, beans, coleslaw, potato salad, cornbread, and fries. We all raved about everything we tried. The staff was incredibly friendly, polite, and professional. I will definitely return!
I wanted to try this place for years. Door disc made it easy. The food was excellent. Enjoys choice of 2 meats and 2 sides with maize bread flour. tender and delicious. We added this to our regular visit to go.
