Beau Rivage Du Leman Le

My wife and I had lunch in the Beau Rivage in Thonon on Sunday the 12th September 2010. It was the last day of of our holiday and we were looking forward to it. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived. Service was slow and in general it was very hard to attract a waiter 's attention. My wife ordered the terrine campagne to start and a pepper steak for the main. I ordered a greek salad to start and steak with a 'cafe de paris ' butter. The starters were delicious. However, the waiters were not very attentive and there was a considerable time gap between us finishing our starters and the arrival of our mains. When our mains arrived they were not delivered by the waiter who had taken our orders. My wife was happy with her food (although clearly not jumping for joy) however, my steak was cold. It was so cold the 'cafe de paris ' butter did not even melt despite it being a hot day. It was impossible to complain to a waiter as they were avoiding eye contact and moving around so fast you would have had to perform a rugby tackle to attract their attention. It was clear to the waiter when he was serving the adjacent table that I was not eating my food yet he continued to ignore us. At no stage did anybody approach us to ask if we were happy with our food. When the waiter finally came to collect the plates he simply shrugged when I told him the food was cold when it had arrived. He simply asked if we wanted anything else. We ordered 2 coffees and the bill. When he brought the bill he pointed out that he had given us the coffees for free but insisted on charging for the cold food. Before I could argue with him he was gone. We paid in cash and left no tip. Overall it was the service which was the most disappointing part of the meal. I would go back but not on a Sunday!

Beautiful spot by the lake stunning views. Fairly limited menu and certainly cooked fresh. The Plat du Jour was roasted guinea fowl delicious. The Tartiflette was huge! Puddings were terriffic and the Mousse Chocolat was astonishingly good. Service was unobtrusive and friendly. All in all a memorable lunch.

Was with my family, spend a good time, many people but the waiter was overwhelmed, so not really great service but i took filet de perche and was really good, and not expensive!was fresh food!!

Typical lake restaurant with a great location. Service is good and the food as well. In the summer there is a lot of activity and it's a good place to be. Not sure about the winter.

Our Sunday lunch was great. Staff was really nice and service was good. Food was best so far in Thonon.
