After returning home from a month of traveling in the USA, I had to visit this little restaurant. I have Coeliac disease, so I sometimes struggle to find safe food to eat in the USA. But this place was a total dream and the food was out of this world. Although it was really busy and we didn't have a reservation, we were able to access the full menu at the bar without any issues. This actually made the experience more enjoyable as we were able to chat with the knowledgeable wine director, Canaan. She provided excellent customer service and even managed to find us a table, as there was a two-hour wait. As for the food, it was the best Italian Coeliac cuisine I have ever had. Bella Monica is one of our favorite restaurants. It is located just a short distance from our home and has plenty of seating available. The menu is varied, the wine list is good, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I started with the arugula and goat cheese salad, followed by the lasagna (one of my favorites). My spouse enjoyed the pear and gorgonzola salad, followed by the crab bruschetta and roasted mushrooms. We paired our meals with a Chianti and Pinot Grigio, both of which were excellent. This charming hidden gem packs a big punch! The menu offers authentic and delicious options such as calzone, pizza, stromboli, veal bolognese, manicotti, and a seafood medley. They also have several gluten-free choices. We were so satisfied with our meal that we didn't even have room for dessert! The seating is cozy, but it adds to the homey atmosphere. We will definitely be returning.

Service is good, place is ok. when it turns to value.... it is valued as not expensive restaurant by opentable; but when my evaluation is versus experience with food, i cannot give a positive rating for value. Big expectations: close to 3 K opinions/customers and about 4 and a half stars overall evaluation. I cannot share it.

Me and my wife celebrated our first anniversary here and the food and service were excellent! I ordered the stuffed shells and my wife ordered the veal rigatoni. This is the best Italian restaurant in Raleigh and this is a must go for anyone in the area. Thanks for a great anniversary dinner!
I can't eat gluten and my partner is vegetarian. this is one of the best places we have found where we had many opportunities to decide. the service was great, everyone was very nice, and the casual atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed night out. we will come back here often!
We dine here several times a month, and it's our go-to Italian restaurant in the Raleigh area. The food is consistently excellent, and they have an impressive gluten-free menu for people like me with a wheat allergy.
we sat outside and it started raining. team was fast to lower shades and then reopened as soon as the rain was stopped. very impressive!

Great food, with the meat lasagna ranking as some of the best I've ever had. Spaghetti and meatballs was good as well.
