We did a little roadtrip , , Townsville, McKay, , Clermont,Charters Towers Townsville. Great to remind ourselves of the outback, , this sort of quick getaway is just enough to blow away the cobwebs, watching the country change as you are driving, , arriving into Belyando Croosing is likened to a beacon in the wilderness, , the friendly staff were really helpful, the big labrador dog lying in the foyer, a good sized caravan park , made our arrival very comfortable, the room was basic but comfortable enough for what we were doing, during the night we had rainfall that was so loud accompanying lightening and thunder,, wonderful, in the morning we went to check the creeks but were surprised that it was as tho the rain never happened, the ground mustve been so thirsty, , then off again heading back to Townsville via Charters Towers. This rang true of what a good mate said one day " Australia, , the further you go , the better it gets".......so true,,

while travelling through outback queensland about 200km south of Charters Towers around dinnertime I spotted this roadhouse, I pulled in to checkout their menu,I found it was a bit more than just a fuel stop, the place is also the local pub motel and camp ground,I ordered a burger with the lot, it was good, and I mean really good, I was invited to sit with the people that were at the outdoor setting under the pub veranda, we got chatting, it turned out all three sitting there also worked there and they mentioned the camp grounds and motel rooms,as I had a tent and swag in the car and the food, drinks along with teh friendly company made it an appealing place to stop for the night and find out i fthe breakfast is as good as their burgers, and it was,one day when I'm passing that way again I'll even return the ammenities key that I forgot about on departure, it gives me an excuse to revisit the menu

No gluten free bread and as much of the menu was sandwiches or burgers or crumbed/ battered food this stumped me at first. Asked for a burger without the bread and this was no problem in the end. Basic but generous amount of salad. Partner had chicken schnitzel burger but schnitzel was very dark (overlooked) and chicken was tough and stringy. Tasty but left unpleasant oily aftertaste. Not sure if oil was well used or if it was just too long in the deep fryer. Friendly staff. But it wouldn't hurt to keep a loaf of gluten free bread in the freezer like everyone else does

People are friendly and welcoming, cool green garden areas and easy going. The young staff are efficient and friendly. Enjoyed sitting down and having a cold beer with the locals.
