I went to Bencok last week for a couple dishes with my Gf. I began with the Wonton soup which just seemed like dumplings stuffed with bread, no meat to be found inside the actual wontons. The soup broth was basic and some sort of oil collecting on the top. For my main course I had the sweet and sour crispy duck with rice. I could tell that they had not changed the deep fryer oil in a very long time just from the taste of my meal. It was terrible. My gf ordered a tuna salad which was actually pretty great. The prices were acceptable but I would not go back and order anything from the deep fryer again with out seeing if they changed the oil. I was disappointed due to the dirty fryer oil.
Good, friendly, delicious, cheap. In the Mekong I like to eat regularly. That's why four stars! There are only five stars, because in winter it is sometimes a bit cold in the Mekong and after that one often smells like food. The ambience is for an Asiabistro o.k., a full-fledged China restaurant is not yet from this perspective. Still, very excellent!
