My wife and I have just returned from braunlage and we stayed at the Berliner hof for 3 nights. The room was clean and the toilet and shower also. The hotel is run by family who know the area very well and are very willing to help you out with any questions. I visited the hotel last year but only for the restuarant, but was so impressed with the friendliness of the staff that I returned this year to stay. The hotel is good value for money, the double room including breakfast is 67 euro per night. I would describe it as a 3 star hotel but don't be put off by this as the food, service, staff and room were all very acceptable. I would stay there again.
We had breakfast at the Berliner Hof, but did not stay there. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The surroundings were a little worn out, but nice and clean. I think the owner collects coffee sets as those were just everywhere. The breakfast itself was average, nothing revolutionating, but there were eggs, coffee, chocolate, juice etc. and we got plenty of good advises for a nice stay.
Went here with the family. Food was awful. My daughter literally had 5 french fries on her plate (she order the Schnitzel). Owner is still the same from 70 years ago - so nice to see the tradition. However, they are cutting corners with the food - sad to see...

Excellent food in interesting surroundings; the menu is full of regional dishes and despite the service being slow it was well worth the wait.
We have eaten here a few times and always been happy with the food and friendly service.We will be coming back again for sure.
Not a touristic venue. Frequented by locals. Very good German food, good service. Menus in English, good choices of beer.
