we recently moved to dc and found ourselves in bethesda a few times for different borderings (it is a very fast and easy journey from the inner city dc on the red line). each time we used the opportunity to pay a visit to bethesda curry kitchen. bethesda curry kitchen not only makes unusual tasty versions of standard Indian fare (palak pakora, samosas, aloo gobhi, yellow daal and roti are all excellent), but also harder to find South Indian dishes (dosas, uttapam and ayival, a kokosmilch based curry that I really wish were more ubiquitous). all mentioned items are vegan and very clearly marked as such on the menu, which is a great help. the friendly staff also knows what vegan means, so just...
Finally found the best dosa in DC! Bethesda Curry Kitchen features cuisine from Hyderabad as well as other parts of India. There are plenty of Indian restaurants in Bethesda, and a few excellent ones in DC (Rasika, for example), but none of them come close to making masala dosas the way we had them in Hyderabad. Warm, crispy pancake wrapped around a potato curry mix with coconut chutney and sambar. This restaurant is a neighborhood gem, and was packed on a recent Saturday night. Give it a try!
samosas, palak pakora, zwiebel and chili uthappam (lentil crepes,) and a spicy curries are all vegan are only so delectable that this place is on our list when we are in bethesda. it is comfort food to satisfy all their Indian foods. the service is welcoming, efficient and fast. during the pandemic they can go their order and sit outside on a closed road near where community tables for eating were set up outdoors. can't wait to go back soon!

both the weekend lunch buffets have many vegan options! we had only dosas at the weekend buffet. everything is well marked. the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. they do not have to go into details that explain that ghee is not vegan. great eating! also the buffet food is fresh and delicious!
This is a real find....a family-owned and run business in he heart of Bethesda. All of the main dishes were delicious as was the papri chat appetizer. Sorry we didn't find it sooner.

great price, with excellent service for a honeycomb buffet. conveniently located in the city of bethesda.
