Big Dipper Ice Cream

I always make sure to visit this restaurant in Missoula whenever I'm in town. The ice cream is excellent and I usually end up coming here multiple times. The line can be a bit long in the evenings, but they keep it moving efficiently. I give it a 10/10 rating. On a warm, sunny evening, it's the perfect spot to stroll around and burn off some of those ice cream calories after indulging in a large size. Before arriving in Missoula, I had heard about places that I just had to try, and Big Dipper Ice Cream was one that kept popping up. They have black licorice ice cream, which I had only tried before in Iceland (the land of black licorice lovers). It was very exciting to see it on the menu. I ended up getting a scoop of the black licorice and also tried the huckleberry ice cream in a waffle cone. Both were excellent choices. The young girls working there were very nice and created a happy atmosphere. I really enjoyed my experience at Big Dipper Ice Cream.

I would rate the food at a 5/10 and the service as subpar. I recognize that the restaurant may have been busy, but they served about 10 people who came in after me before attending to my order. When I inquired about my order at the counter, they claimed they were short-staffed, yet managed to serve those behind me who arrived later. Even those who ordered after me received their food before I did. I simply ordered a small cup, but my experience was still disappointing. The service was better a few years ago compared to now.

This is a fantastic spot to grab some huckleberry ice cream in a waffle cone with excellent service. I highly recommend stopping by if you're a fan of ice cream. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and offers takeout service. The prices are very reasonable, averaging between $1 and $10 per person. The food, service, and atmosphere all scored a perfect 5 out of 5. Recommended dishes include the Waffle Cone. I have had a lot of ice cream, but this one is truly exceptional. It is creamy, delicious, and simply wonderful. The food, service, and atmosphere all receive a perfect 5 rating in my book.

When I ordered, I let them know about my allergy to dairy. When they prepared my order, they thoroughly cleaned the whole area first. No problems from eating at all.

Busy place for a cool mid-September day. But people were lined up to get their ice cream. I guess the locals know where to get good ice cream.
