My parents moved to Oak Ridge in 1970, TN and Big Ed had just opened their current location. In the 1980s my father told me that they never changed anything from behind, then the red and white tablecloths, the paperboards, the paper bags for orders, and of course the spectacular pizza. Quickly forward 50 years and the property has advanced a generation, but the atmosphere and the pizza are perfectly all around in my mind. The fresh dough creates a thin crust that is light and airy, but still enough strength and texture to keep the best product on the menu up to the Special Ham, Italian sourcing, mushrooms, onions and green pepper. I'm glad to say everything tastes as good as it did when I eat it again in the 70s and 80s and I hope it never changes.
What is in your brown paper bag?. A delicious golden pizza cake says who took Big Ed's. This place is a premium place to eat a bite when you are in Oak Ridge. And if you're not in Oak Ridge, the perfect excuse to go! Yeah, it's worth it. You have large interiors and many employees to make sure you take care of yourself. This place meets the place after a good long day at the wind rock!
Best pizza I ever had! Usually I eat only two slices of pizza and today I eat almost half a pizza. I love the crust, and it's not thick. The crust is perfect! Our waitress was super nice and well maintained. I also love the cozy atmosphere of the place gives off, including the fantastic decorations. In any case will come back!!
The place is legendary, it's hard to beat the pizza and all the different beers they offer if someone wants a cold one. It is always a packed house and for good reason. But that being said it cost me $40 for a Coke and a Large 3 topping pizza with the tip. Amazing pizza and good service, but it's pricey.
