A long time classic Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Montreal, BIS is an excellent choice for a romantic dinner or a family gathering. Located in a typical coachhouse on Mountain (de la Montage) St. just south of Ste. Catherine, the interior is a somewhat somber darkish design in an irregular rectangular shape running the length of the building. This was a lovely restaurant located on de la Montagne Street.First I must say the staff was excellent. I have a food allergy and they were so accomadating. Infact they even remembered from the note on my reservation.Its a quiet spot meaning no blaring music, somewhere where you can actually have a conversation. I went with my sister and we both enjoyed our meals. I started off with the lemon explosion cocktail which was very refreshing. I had the fried zucchini which I enjoyed. While at a week-long downtown convention, my wife and I had a short but profitable late afternoon Monday visit to the Casino de Montreal and decided to spend some of our winnings on a special dinner. I contacted BIS and was welcomed without a reservation even though the restaurant is normally busy most nights. The meal was even better than the gambling which preceded it. The veal and wine paring (I AM Aria Matteo Domodimonti Marche 2016) were wonderful. Although not on the dessert menu, the kitchen made up a fresh fruit plate which topped off the evening. Friendly and engaging service. BIS means encore in Italian and if we lived in Montreal, we would definitely visit it again!
My friend and I had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant, yesterday. The staff was amazing and friendly. Thank you so much Marcello for all your suggestions, you made our evening special. I had the fresh clams pasta and my friend had the veal and I believe he ordered the burrata served with smoked prosciutto and homemade marmalade(he shared it with me: and Oh boy!!! This was so delicious, everything was fresh and I'm still thinking about it a day later, hence the review. The food was delicious and I must say, a very charming restaurant. We were looking for a place at which to eat when visiting Montreal. We are so happy that we came here as everything from beginning to end was delicious. They gave us complimentary veal meatballs, which were tasty. The bread was yummy. But our favorite was the lamb pasta. It was incredibly saucy and tasty. We had the creme brulee for dessert it was not too sweet which was a nice surprise. The service was impeccable also every single employee was kind and attentive. Be sure to check them out!
Excellent in every way. Very friendly staff, fabulous food (the black linguine with shrimp scallops was truly spectacular), a great wine list with lots of reasonable options (we had a buttery, yummy Chardonnay from Umbria) lovely atmosphere. Great for a nice dinner!!

Came for US consulate appointment and this place had amazing food, service is impeccable and the atmosphere is romantic and cozy. I suggest ending your dinner with the crème brûlée!
