Ambience: The atmosphere was lacking. We were hoping for a cozy Italian experience, but instead, it felt like we were waiting in any ordinary restaurant. There was no background music, and little touches like candles on the table would have been nice. Service: The service was decent, but the staff seemed disinterested. Perhaps it was because it was a slow Tuesday night and they didn't want to be there, but their lack of enthusiasm was evident. Food: The appetizer was good, giving us hope for a great meal. The restaurant has moved to a new location and replaced its old Italian charm with a modern vibe reminiscent of a strip mall. The atmosphere now includes irritating modern music and a sports bar playing on television. This place used to be a popular destination for parties and one of the few remaining authentic Italian restaurants in the area. Unfortunately, there is no Verizon cell service. However, the bartender/server was friendly and accommodating to special menu requests. The food was enjoyable, with several dishes featuring mushrooms, which I love. The highlight was the super fresh and chewy pappadelle noodles. However, the high prices did not match the ambiance.
The new location in Normandie Park is a definite improvement. The service was quick and friendly, and the complimentary focaccia was tasty. I ordered the grilled eggplant appetizer, which was inexpensive and cooked just right. The only critique is that it could use more balsamic drizzle. The lobster risotto was okay, with the highlight being the lobster itself. I plan to return to sample other main dishes in the hopes of finding something better than the risotto.
The food is great, but the service is terrible and ruins the experience. It's really sad because this was our absolute favorite restaurant under the old ownership, but we've had multiple bad experiences since they sold, most recently when our group of 10 went in for a birthday reservation a few weeks ago and (no joke) waited an hour and a half before our orders were even taken. My wife and I had an amazing experience at this restaurant. We are flying out of SeaTac tomorrow and luckily, this gem is just minutes away from all the airport hotels. I have never tasted a better pork chop. The staff were so friendly, it felt like we were friends. We had a great time chatting with them and the other customers. This fantastic neighborhood gem offers amazing chef-prepared food and private label wines. Amy, the manager and server, is the best and always makes you feel right at home. The gourmet food is top-notch, and the service is excellent. Dining here for dinner is a treat, with prices ranging from $30–50 per person. Overall, this restaurant gets a perfect 5 for food, service, and atmosphere.
