My wife I were so taken by the wonderful food, service, black bear decorative atmosphere, and the clientele that we returned a second time in the same week. Our second visit was over the Labor Day weekend and gradually as we ordered and began eating, the restaurant became filled nearly to capacity. The layout and diversity of numbers of chairs at the different sized tables is superb. We have seen living bears in the Rockies in Colorado so having the photos in the foyer of Cubs and Moms is certainly added fun.Thank you for building and operating in the Independence Missouri area! My brother's wife, a retired elementary educator, always had a unit on bears throughout her 36 years of teaching. T...

I like the decor here! It’s bear-themed to the extreme, but cute nonetheless. This even extends to the exterior. The place could be kept in cleaner condition (dining areas and restroom). The staff probably can’t keep up with the sloppiness of the clientele, but still, it detracts somewhat. The food is very nice, and the helpings are extra size/good value. Most dishes could probably be split. The coffee is pretty good, though I’m not sure it’s worth $3.49 per cup (don’t believe the coffee 5¢ sign). The service is very pleasant and attentive. You also might have to wait for a table during peak hours.Vegetarian options: There are several vegetarian optionsParking: Parking lot can be filled to cap...

Got to this location late in the evening and told the hostess that we'll just order take out a we saw they were only open for another 30 minutes but we were welcomed in to dine in and enjoy our dinner. Being on the road for hours it was a blessing for her to invite us to stay and relax. Our waitress was very patient and very helpful with our dinner selection and she was very hospitable/ personable too. Our meal was brought to us piping hot and was also so much better tasting than all the fast food restaurants we had visiting while traveling. We would definitely return to this restaurant if we are ever in the area again.

First time ever dining there and it was the perfect experience. The pot roast platter was the best I had in a long time and you can not leave until you try one of many cream pies they have for dessert. The wife had one of the biggest chicken fried steaks we have ever seen at a restaurant, and the green beans with was perfect.Highly recommend for the whole family.
