Nice setup outside, good beer and drink selection. Buffalo chicken sandwich was very big but kind of bland, and blue cheese served in cups seemed to have gone south. Replaced them with fresher looking ranch. Service was slow, which seems to be par for the course at these types of places in COVID times, but we could have used more attention at the table overall. The other three people seemed to enjoy their food more, so I'm guessing maybe I chose an inferior dish. It's one of the closer pubs to me so I may be back, but ultimately nothing to really differentiate it from other (slightly overpriced) beer pubs in the area. UPDATE 06/29 I'm increasing my rating to 4 stars, as I've been here a few more times since it's rebranded from Maggie's to Blackrock Tavern. The interior decor is nice, and the breaded wings are excellent, a nice find after trying wings at a few other local places and felt underwhelmed.

I went last week with a friend. I had a positive experience until the time came to pay the check. They charged me a service charge when paying the check with a debit card. I felt compelled to raise the issue with the bartender. They became very defensive and unreasonable. It's against the law to charge a service charge for debit card transactions. They're not charged fees with debit card transactions. I even told her that I was paying with a debit card. That's theft and deceit. It's not about the money. I don't like feeling ripped off.

Between the daily specials and their regular menu, Black Rock’s food is excellent and prices reasonable. They offer interesting choices in addition to the typical tavern fare. Kudos to the chef. Also of note is Aubrey who holds down the front of the house, is a great bartender and a masterful mixologist. The rest of the crew is fun and does a fine job as well. My only complaint is their hours are limited and they ran out of Barr Hill gin : . Other than that, Black Rock is a hidden gem in Ringwood.

Excellent! My husband I stopped in, ravenous, after an 8 mile hike. They have a wide variety of draft beers. We shared the mussels fra Diablo as a starter. He had a shrimp/mushroom/sun dried tomato pasta, and I had the French onion burger. Both were very good! We’ll be hiking in the area again next Sunday, and plan to return!
