Am a local. Thought we would try it again with the new owners after how bad it was before. Ordered poached eggs. Eggs were not poached at all. like hard boiled. Not hard to make poached eggs properly. All it came with was cherry tomatoes each cut in half and a small piece of sourdough bread which was wet in the middle. Nothing else. Quite expensive for such a small badly cooked breakfast. Small pot of tea with two large tea bags inside which made the tea so strong you couldn’t drink it. Ask for a pot of hot water to make the tea weak but still way too strong. They had to then make another pot of tea which by then breakfast was finished. The pot of tea I ordered came with two large tea bags, making the tea so strong that it was undrinkable. I asked for a pot of hot water to dilute the tea, but it was still too strong. They had to make another pot of tea by the time I finished my breakfast. The restaurant needs to improve their quality of food and service if they want to succeed. The location is great, so serving well-cooked, high-quality food will help them thrive.
I will give them another try, but I was very disappointed with my experience.
The cafe is on the promenade so has a nice ambience. We were greeted on entering, were handed two grubby little menus and invited to sit anywhere. The staff seemed to be busy washing cutlery and chatting and quite oblivious that we were waiting, and...waiting, and waiting... After 10 or 12 minutes, we got up and slowly walked out. None of the staff even looked up. Consequently I have no idea what the food was like, or the coffee, so my rating simply reflects the initial welcome and subsequent apathy.
Visitors to Batemans Bay we were hoping for a great breakfast with a view, on a sunny Sunday morning . Blank Canvas cafe provided the view but that’s about it. Eggs Benedict, egg and bacon burgers, coffee and milkshakes were not particularly appetising. Undercooked eggs,...tasteless hollandaise sauce , oily fries, thin toast, and warm coffee. Such a great location for a cafe, but it really needs to improve its cooking.

Reopened with new owners in early 2021. Same great setting, that’s where similarities end unfortunately. Limited lunch menu with options like burger, parmigiana, fish and chips all okay but nothing noteworthy. Had the salt and pepper squid special, plenty of it for good price...but thick batter was gross. Shame, cafe has great potential but just average.
Had dinner with friends on Saturday night. The food was delicious, the aromas were wonderful, and the service was great. The cook/owner even came out to chat with us, which was a nice touch. Will definitely be back!
Food was subpar, with a small menu. Coffee was good but took forever. Staff are not very welcoming but the cafe is in a nice spot and could have a lot of potential.
Note that this cafe has reopened under its old name, however it’s under new operators and menu. I won’t be going back sadly. Food and coffee were both average.

Great service and great coffee The Eggs Benedict with bacon was fantastic - one of the best I've had in a while.
Friendly service coupled with a great view and a broad selection of breakfast it.
