Everything is perfect in this restaurant. Great staff, great atmosphere, good food, great prices, great drinks. After a few hours dinner with Franz Marc Co. at the Museum/Galerie. Veal ragout on Swabian noodles. A dream. Homemade noodles of a superbly fluffy consistency....Ragout in a very delicate compound sauce. All this accompanied by a fantastic view through large glass windows on the Alps. What else? Nothing! A perfect waiver of a few hours with the Blue Rider school of painters. Go there, you won't regret it.
The Trend in museums is to have high end restaurants, and the Franz Marc's restaurant is a fantastic example of it working well. The staff has limited english, and were not able to offer much help with the menu. We ordered based on a few words we recognized. The food was consistently delicious and well prepared. This was all enhanced by by a spectacular view across the lawn of the museum to the valley (& maybe the lake, I cannot quite recall).Definitely worth planning your museum visit around a meal!
We arrived twice, once after a visit to the Marc Museum next door, once on the way back from Lake Walchensee. Both times the food was excellent. A creative cook and owner puts his stamp on the restaurant, a real surprise for a museum restaurant ....The view from the outdoor terrace is great, our waitress was friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a great meal. This is the place to go when you are in the area and look for something good to eat.
