We were seated at two tables on the bar side of Blue Fish Japanese, and the staff made us feel very welcome, especially our waiter with the adorable ponytail—he was truly a gentleman. We ordered a variety of dishes from the menu, ranging from hot appetizers to our sashimi choices. Everything was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, striking the perfect balance without being overdone. One of the standout seasonal items was the Fried Red Snapper in curry sauce, which was remarkable. Bonnie G. and I shared a large sashimi platter featuring belly salmon, belly yellowtail, salmon roe, unagi eel, and ama ebi (sweet shrimp) with tempura-fried heads. We also tried the Kamikaze Roll a...

On a Monday night, had to wait 30 minutes for a hurricane drink. The waiters were very scattered and disorganized. My husband wanted to just leave because we were waiting for about 35 minutes, no drink and no order taken. One waitress kept coming over asking if we were being helped, then would run off in an anxious way. Our waiter kept leaving the dining area. Got the sense they were overwhelmed. However, once the order was taken, we got our food fairly quickly and it was good. I think with the Groupon deal soon expiring, they were not expecting such a rush of customers. The place was packed on a Monday night! Other than that, on the outside the restaurant looks a little rundown/ rinky dinky...
A friend brought me here... secret amazing place he discovered.. supposedly.... Ok... not awesome. Nice decor for a former cafe attached to the Days Inn in Hicksville on a back street. Not my idea of a high traffic upscale local which is the only type of place I will even get sushi from... So... it was a few of their special rolls... A lobster surprise and white fish with all kinds of funky sauces... etc.. Rolls were not particulary cohesive.. fish was mushy... and the seaweed wrap was too chewy... you could choke. Truth. The chefs were 4 guys all looking perplexed as they were trained by the oldest one.. who looked 19!.. It looked like cooking class after school! Oh well.. felt bad to not b...
Taku just opened. There was nobody in the place....service was Great! The owner sent us over 2 shots of delicious goodness. We had sexy roll, yazu avocado roll, and a soft shell crab roll...made to perfection. We had sashimi of striped bass, yellow tail and scallop (not live) all presented with style and grace... We had himachi belly that was like butter, it was better than toro. The toro I'm getting in the States has tendons. They cut it wrong, dont remove the tendons...sloppy and gross. I would spit it out...but not this dish that Taku makes! Get on the Taku bandwagon! TELL your friends! I will definitely go back! Sushi restaurant's are many, many are not good, but Taku keeps you coming ba... Réservez une table maintenant
Not a bad place. We ordered delivery from this restaurant last night. It was better that I expected. Only a few problems I would like to mention but by no way this was a bad experience. Just want to provide the restaurant with customer feedback for future improvement. 1. The chirashi sushi should probably be separated for delivery so that the warm rice won't half cook the sashimi. 2. Chirashi sashimi were half as thick with what I have been accustom to from other japanese restaurants. 3. One salad came with spoiled dressing. 4. Sashimi was a bit watery. So, I will try this restaurant one more time just in case this was a one off. See my pictures and please click like below.
Went with a friend using a Groupon. We shared a vegetable tempura appetizer was delicious but smaller than expected. Wouldn't have been enough for more than two people. I posted pics of her beef negimaki (sp? dinner and my two rolls. Didn't try her negimaki but it was a big portion, worth the price based on the size, and the fact that she enjoyed it. My shrimp tempura roll was good, but wasn't too fond of their version of yellowtail jalapeno. There were a lot of pickled jalapenos in it so I couldn't taste the fish, just the pickle ness. Usually when I get a yellowtail jalapeno roll elsewhere there is a little bit of jalapeno with a lot of kick, without the pickle flavor.
I don't quite understand why Taku II is considered a continuation of Blue Fish, as it feels like a completely different restaurant. However, I must say that the sushi at Taku II was extremely fresh, and the portion sizes were quite generous. The prices are reasonable, and the quality surpassed my expectations. The service was friendly, but there appeared to be some communication issues, whether due to language barriers or inexperience, as a few of our ordered items were missing and had to be asked for multiple times. Interestingly, the restaurant was empty on a Saturday evening at 6 PM, which is rather unusual; perhaps it's due to its location.
I originally planned to visit last Friday but saw a sign indicating they were closed for renovations and that their new name is Taku. I sincerely hope the ownership remains the same and that they retain the extensive menu they previously offered. I’ll definitely be among the first customers when they reopen in May! (I even uploaded a picture of the sign on the door.) By the way, I suggest making your sign larger, as it's quite hard to see from the road, haha. Réservez une table maintenant
