They appreciate the Cuban influence in the dishes featuring dark tempeh, flavorful pork, spicy slaw, and plantains. You place your order at the counter and then wait for your name to be called, which can be quite loud. It would be nice if there were a quieter way to alert customers instead of calling out names.
Would love to give 5 stars but since it has some meat dishes, I cannot. Delicious tempeh sandwich and tofu platos. Jicama slaw is divine. Word of warning the portions are huge! Staff very knowledgeable about vegan and gluten-free diets. Delicious plantains sweetened with agave. They do not use honey.
They have tofu and tempeh sandwiches and boxes. Both of which are HUGE, but the box weighs like 2 lbs so you will not go hungry! I easily make my box last a couple meals. The veggie cubans are oil pressed and really tasty. I would love a couple more sandwich options but overall really delicious.
While they serve meat, there is a plethora of vegan options. For sandwiches, try the vegetarian or the tempeh. For platos, try the vegetarian or the tempeh. For salads, try the chopped romaine with tofu or tempeh. Réservez une table maintenant
Be sure to visit Bodega in St. Pete—it's an amazing place! Even with the ongoing construction in the vicinity, don’t let that discourage you; this spot is definitely worth a visit.
I usually found it difficult to enjoy my meals here because they were too dry. However, in my experience, the tofu sandwich is juicier than the tempura!
I asked the bartender if they had any vegan options, and she was very helpful. I selected a dish, and it turned out to be both filling and satisfying.
