Bonsai is my new favorite place in the western suburbs of Minneapolis! The brother and sister duo make and serve well-priced, beautifully presented, fresh and tasty food-he is the chef and she tells you all about what each dish is and how to best enjoy it. Nicole (her American name) will remember your name and everything about you so you feel very welcomed. Recently, I celebrated my birthday there with kids and grandmas and everyone had so much fun leisurely trying new foods and flavor combinations. Amazing Korean food. This is authentic Korean home cooking, not the overly sweet stuff served all over the Twin Cities. We tried the pork dumplings, stir fried squid, stir fried pork and the Dolsot Bibimbop. It was all great, but the Dolsot Bibimbop (recommended by my daughter who loves Korea and went there on vacation last year) was really amazing. The Dolsot gets its name from the stone bowl in which it is cooked that causes the rice to form a crispy skin along the base of the bowl. Sauces are served on the side so you control the spice. It was perfectly balanced and amazing. We look forward to returning and sampling more delectable dishes.
After reading positive reviews on my neighborhood app, my husband and I decided to try Bonsai on a Friday night. The servers were great at explaining the menu and assisting us with our choices. I ordered an entree that came in a stone bowl and it was delicious. My husband enjoyed his soup as well. We plan to return with friends next time, especially since the restaurant is less than 10 minutes away from our home in Eden Prairie!
The highlight of this restaurant is of course the food. From the appetizers to the dessert, everything we had was amazing. I honestly don’t think we would have gone wrong with anything on the menu. My favorite was the avocado sushi roll. The wait staff is excellent, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very inviting. I will definitely be back here the next time I’m in the Twin Cities. I have gone there 3 times in the past 2 weeks, outstanding. The food is absolutely delicious, i have tried something new off the menu every time ive been there which is around 6 times) and have yet to be disappointed. They treat their customers with value and care, would reccommend this place to anyone!
