Despite the chilly weather, when we asked if we could sit inside, we were bluntly told no, even though there were available tables indoors. Another group of 4 guests came out, were seated outside, complained about the cold, and were promptly moved inside. When I inquired about heaters with the woman who I was told was the owner, I was simply told that they didn't have them and didn't need them. We ultimately decided to leave without ordering dessert, coffee, or after dinner drinks because of the cold, and my concerns were dismissed without a response. I live nearby and it can be difficult to find high-quality food at the shore. Brando's is one of the best restaurants in the area for food. On a Friday night, we had a fantastic server. However, we were given a table in the middle of the dining room and it was so loud that we couldn't hear each other. When I asked to be moved to a table by the window, the manager said they don't do table changes. This was frustrating considering the amount of money we were spending. We struggled through the noise and had to yell to be heard at our small table. I remembered why I hadn't been back in a year and might not return. Had high expectations for this place. Unfortunaely, it fell short. Very pricey. $275 dinner for 2) At best the food was okay, but far from special. Ordered the tomohawk steak special. The steak was supposed to be 40 ounces and it certainly was not and the lobster mac and cheese was pathetic. 5 small pieces of lobster the size of a dime at best. If they would have just done a little better with that accomanyment it would have went a long way. Spiedini was good, but not great as was the pistachio icecream cake. Left feeling like they chinced on that dish for $175. There are better options out there. Anjelicas or the Poached Pear are two that come to mind.
Upon entering the restaurant for our reservation, we inquired about being seated inside. Despite numerous open tables on a slow Wednesday night, the hostess was abrupt and impolite, stating that only a single high top table by the bathrooms was available. Throughout our meal, most of the tables remained unoccupied. The food was lackluster, with dry and undercooked dishes. The only saving grace was the friendly service, though it was not enough to warrant more than one star. Don is a valuable asset to this restaurant, he is a fantastic waiter. He is personable, knowledgeable, and provides great service. However, Natalie was the opposite. It is unclear why the owner would place her in a waitress or manager role given her personality. This was the first time I have had such a mixed experience with customer service at a restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere were all rated 5 out of 5.
