Brauhaus Freistadt

Excellent food, all beers excellent, two need to be pointed out especially: the brown beer following the bohemian style, which is not so common in Austria, and the midium, the first lager style beer with less than alcohol I ever drank, that was really...good, no reason to drink a stronger beer. You visit Freistadt you have to go there. Unfortunately I found out too late, that they serve starting at p.m. a second unfiltered beer called Kellerbier from a wooden cask so I cannot comment on this highly interesting beer. Brewed on the premises, the German-Austrian style beer is actually excellent. Food was up to par with what other traditional Gasthaüser offer. A tad less expensive may be. Should you decide to have lunch there, make sure to arrive early (around as the place...is always fully booked for the service.

This place is terrible. Good beer but a totally inhumane “dog parking lot”, and totally rude and disinterested staff. No dogs outside in the garden or inside. Totally unreasonable. No reason to drive all the way to Freistadt to be treated this way, I’ll never...be coming back.

We went for dinner but at the entrance they said to us that the dog couldn’t stay inside the restaurant, and the tables outside are only for drinking. Unexpected situation. Very sad for a place like this.

Super nice atmosphere, excellent food and service , we come back as soon as possible . Freistadt is the place to see on Austria! Brauhause is the cherry on the cake , we love it!
