Visited Brickfields this morning to be told there were no brownies, sad for us, though not a complaint worthy problem. We next asked for a slice of the flourless chocolate cake - the attendant politely proceeded to serve us, though was interrupted by another server who told him it was not on offer to us, as the cake had not yet been cut - again not a problem. We ordered a coffee and waited patiently, before a server impolitely asked us to wait outside for our order (despite the light rain that was building momentum outside). We waited patiently, though there remained patrons inside the cafe, waiting for their coffees - they had presumably not been asked to wait outside, or had perhaps ignore...

Brickfields is a popular bakery in Chippendale which is known for its bread and pastries. The simple cafe features a high ceiling and glass counter where the baked pastries and cakes are paraded. I would have rated Brickfields a credible 3.0 or 3.5 if I had not bothered to try their breakfast bowl for the day. Their pastries and cakes, the Malaysian Kaya cake and croissants, were flavoursome and delectable but the breakfast bowl was simply terrible and resembled a tasteless, hospital meal. The corn, peas and sesame etc were dry and seemingly unrelated and it was not a surprise that most of the diners could not finish them.
