I was in the Kensington area at lunchtime so as usual I reached for Yelp. I found Brisket, Roots and Flavor. I am a huge brisket aficionado and decided to give it a try. It's located on the edge of a gas station parking lot and has 1 picnic table on the lawn. They have a good size menu full of sandwiches, empanadas, tacos, burritos, bowls and more. I chose the shredded brisket sandwich which comes with fries. It was ready quickly and everything was hot. The brisket is cooked well and tender with mild spices that I didn't recognize. I adore this spot. It's a food truck/trailer located in the parking lot of the BP gas station on the corner of University and Lexington St. I've tried the brisket and chicken tacos, brisket sandwich, as well as the fries, yuca, and plantains. All of the food tastes incredibly fresh. The tacos have a wonderful mix of flavors and textures. The salsas are vibrant and complement the meat well without overpowering it. The fried sides are cooked to perfection. They don't always have yuca, but when they do, it's a great day for me.
I come here at least once a month. It's a special treat. They recently cut their hours close at 5pm) which means it's no longer feasible for me to get dinner food here, which is very sad. Also closed Sundays. It's very affordable so you can get a lot of items to try. Must try: brisket taco pupusa load it up with the cabbage slaw then eat it like a taco) yucca fries comes with punchy Chipotle Mayo dipping sauce) plantains
This simple food truck located in the BP gas station parking lot serves up excellent tacos. The fish, chicken, and carnitas were all delicious, and the fries were perfectly seasoned. The service was friendly, and we can't wait to go back and try more of their menu.

The food at this restaurant is delicious. I have tried the tacos, elote, and brisket empanadas. The service is excellent and the food is top-notch. I highly recommend this place, as it is also conveniently located.
Incredible! Everything I've tried has been excellent, but the brisket is especially delicious. You'll want to savor every bite.
The fish tacos at this restaurant are fantastic. I am looking forward to trying all of their new menu items.
The food here is excellent! This is my second visit and I was not disappointed. I highly recommend it.

BRF makes the best Mexican food I've found in the DMV. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
