I went here with a number of friends and bottles of wine. BYO allowed at $9.00 per head. We had heard about the large schnitzels, so tried them. No veal schnitzels.....I suspect there will be no veal until next spring; so between us ordered the beef, chicken and pork schnitzels. They came with a choice of mashed potato or salad. $4.00 extra for a sauce. Serving size as large, quality level average at best. My mushroom sauce was disappointing too. The best dish we shared was the cherry crepe (cherry blintz).Bill came to $45/head.......not cheap for what we got. Sign out the front says Schnitzels are $16 on Thursdays. Even at $16, I'd try the goulash.
If I was a local I would most likely go back. But the trip from Blackburn to Elsternwick is just not worth it. Sour ? No, the food is just not special enough to drive that far. The food is just average and while it was fresh and the service was friendly. It's just not good enough to go back. I was really hoping it would be better. My wife really wanted to have Authentic Hungarian goulash and It just isn't. The Stuffed mushroom schnitzel was also just too dry. But the Fried Camembert was definitely the best part of the meal. That and the Bulls Blood Wine
Un endroit surprenant, avec un rapport qualité prix inegalable, tres copieux attention au petit appetit ! La presentation et la cuisine est grand mere mais agreablement surpris. Il manque un peu d'ambiance et le service est sans doute a revoir avec une serveuse sans sourire de l'accueil jusqu'a l'addition Dommage mais tres bonne cuisine merci au chef et sa brigade... cordialement.
There was no place for us, but when we headd for the door, they suddenly found a table. We did not stay. It was very sad that a table that was unavailable when we walked in suddenly became available at a whim of a waitress. Strange.

Took my family to Budapest. Waited at the door to be seated and wasn't. Then sat at the table and had to ask for our orders to be taken. Service was appalling. Food was ok but wouldn't return.
This restaurant should close and change all the management and the name and menu

Just love the food and great big servings, staff are nice. The only down side is it is very cramped in.
Best schnitzel in the area. Not a bad beer selection either. Definantely worth a visit!
