I'm from Puerto Rico and know a lot about Caribbean cuisine. I can assure you that Hatuey is authentic and good quality Cuban food. I went there with no expectations during a trip to Gran Canaria. I was happily impressed with the variety of dishes at the buffet and the service. The server was a Cuban woman who treated us very nicely. I specially enjoyed the ropa vieja and the plátano maduro (sweet plantain). The arroz congrí was also very good. I only tried the dulce de tomate and the torrejas for dessert. They were both very good. If you're into Caribbean food, this is the place in Gran Canaria.
Absolutely magical this restaurant. I couldn’t resist trying every dish, desserts etc etc. It is buffet restaurant where you select any single food whatever you choose is 10/10. Its staff are very kind and friendly. Please if you come to Gran Canaria you have to visit this restaurant! It’s a must! Don’t forget to ask for a ‘chupito de hierbas’ at the bar just after dinner :
this restaurant is a hidden gem, well known by locals. Im caribean myself, I must said the food taste like homemade. always is a must stop in every trip to the area. courteous service,clean, and a lot of variety for reasonable price
They have the best Cuban food on the island. The deal is right. the price has risen to 15 euros per person, drinks apart. can be eaten cheaper in another Cuban restaurant although food is not the best

The last time I was almost 10 years ago, and since then the food was delicious. Today we enjoy it in family, and all happy and satisfied.
