Our Christmas celebration took place this year at the Radiation Castle in Schriesheim, which is located just outside Schriesheim up in the forest. We were greeted with Sweden fire in the courtyard of the castle. Also the view over the Rhine plain at night, among us the illuminated sea of houses unpaid. The company had booked one of the adjoining rooms, which was also accessible separately via a side entrance and had access to the courtyard of the castle. A good menue should salute us for the next hours and tune us to the upcoming Christmas season. I try to get to Schriesheim every year, as my family as well as my school mates are there. During each visit a trip to the Strahlenburg is a must. After all, I played hide-and-seek there, climbed up to the top of the keep and in later years celebrated New Years. The view from the large terrace, on which the local wine tastes twice as good, into the Rhine flats, is nothing short of breathtaking. Immediately in front of the terrace is the "Kuhberg", probably the finest vineyard in the area and below the quaint town of Schriesheim. Zur Strahlenburg fährt man eigentlich nur wegen der Aussicht, nicht wegen des Essens. Die Aussicht ist grandios, wahrscheinlich die beste in der ganzen Umgebung von Heidelberg. Mann hat selbst bei etwas riesigen Wetter eine freie Sicht bis zum Pfälzer Wald. Das Restaurants selber ist sehr rustikal wohl gleich der Service sehr freundlich war. Man bemüht sich einen freien Platz für den Gast zu finden , wobei man den Gast mehr aushelfen könnte, Tische zu teilen, die von einem einzelnen Gästen okupiert werden. First issue is with reaching the place.We drove there using both google maps and the Waze application (highly recommended, by the way).The road just below the castle was blocked so we had some hard time navigating by instinct to the place.Once we reached – the view was worth the wait. A superb view of the whole area.The food itself was pretty good. We reached during the ‘Asparagus Season’ so asparagus was a main ingredient in most dishes.Most of the dinner participants reported that they enjoyed their dish, and the service was also decent.
Die Aussicht auf der Burgterrasse ist sehr schön, leider kann die Qualität der Speisen nicht mit dem Ausblick mithalten.Die Speisen sind aus unserer Sicht von minderer Qualität, dass Schnitzel ist offensichtlich ein Fertigschnitzel welches in der Fritteuse zubereitet wurde. Der Salat war schlecht geputzt und teilweise waren noch Strunke an den Blättern vorhanden. Die Preise stehen in keinem Verhältnis zur Qualität der Speisen. Der Service war langsam. Leider sich dies in den Jahren auch nicht geändert.
Zufällig dort gelandet, eine kleine Suche durch den Wald, aber ein super toller Ausblick!! Sehr leckeres Essen dazu und eine sehr sehr freundliche Bedienung. Trotz einer Hochzeitsgesellschaft war es angenehm ruhig und der Service einwandfrei. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist wirklich gut. Jederzeit wieder gerne !
An einem recht bewölkten Sonntagnachmittag hielt sich der Betrieb eigentlich in Grenzen, aber über 25-minütige Wartezeit, bis jemand auftauchte, schnoddrig-unfreundliche Bedienung und durchgängig intolerables Essen (mediterraner Salat ohne jedes Dressing; pappige Käsespätzle) wären so oder so inakzeptabel.
