After climbing what seemed like an endless steep hill I made it to the castle & found the "pretty courtyard" with tables & chairs sitting in the sun. I quickly realised they belonged to the Burgschänke (Burgcafé) so my family & I decided to have a drink & a rest.There was seating available both inside & out but with the glorious weather that day we all wanted to bask in the sun. We did ask the café staff if we could move one of the tables from the shade to the sun which he agreed to. Beers were all very cheap & they even offered a shandy which tasted delicious. Wine & soft drinks were also available as well as some snacks/cake.The café is in a great location as you really do need a drink & a rest after reaching the top of the castle. I would highly recommend calling in for a drink & enjoying the scenery of the courtyard.
We had visited the German pewter figure museum and stopped at the Burgschanke for a drink. The coffee we ordered was very good and the service excellent. I collect beer glasses worldwide and the very helpful man at the Burgschanke sold me a glass that...I did not have in my collection.
