We've driven by this restaurant numerous times and decided to give it a try. When we walked up the hostess outside told us there's no seating left outside but they're wide open inside. We walked in and we're seated right away. Once we got to the table, our server immediately came up to while we were settling in and asked us if we were ready to order. We quickly ordered our drinks and looked at the menu. A few moments later she came back with our drinks and asked us again if we were ready to order. I have been a regular at this restaurant going back to when it was called Butterfield 's. This covers a period of at least 10 years. There are a lot of choices when it comes to places for breakfast and/or brunch and this spot is always my first choice. Yesterday (10/8 we met out of town relatives there. We 'd not seen them for quite some time, so naturally, conversation and catching up ensued. I know that it was a busy time for the restaurant and the service was fairly rushed up when it came to clearing the table. Horrible. This place used to be so good but it was awful this time. I ordered smoked salmon hollandaise. The salmon was not smoked and was thick and rubbery and the hollandaise sauce was a weird color and tasted awful. I am not sure if it was old and reheated, but it was so bad I only ate half. It didn't look appetizing when it came to the table but I was hoping it would taste good. It looked like some slop you would get in a school cafeteria. This is such a good dish at other restaurants. Unfortunately, my experience with the food was disappointing. While the ham and cheese omelette was beautifully made, the rest of the full breakfast left much to be desired, especially the two side dishes. The hash browns were dry and tasteless—unless you count burnt as a flavor. The biscuit was so hard and dry that I couldn't even cut it with a knife. It seemed like it might have come from a pre-packaged batch and had been left out far too long. If they could enhance their side dishes, this restaurant could truly become a standout.
The food was excellent! We dined outdoors after a rain shower, but I wouldn't recommend that. There were more flies than one would want to deal with while eating. I would rate this restaurant 5 stars for its hospitality and exceptional customer service. However, the pancakes were a bit dry; they could use a little more fluffiness. My waiter, Jose, was prompt, responsive, and attentive—he definitely deserves a bonus for his fantastic service. Thank you! Sincerely, the guest who ordered toast and pancakes.
For what you pay the food should be hotter. Staff is always very friendly. Hash browns were cold one time, turkey burger not close to hot the other. I don't know why its so difficult to do. Place is clean and friendly but if the food isn't hot, or even close, thats a problem.
