After waiting for a while, I began to wonder if they were brewing a fresh pot of coffee. Finally, I had to call over another staff member who was sitting behind the cashier to ask if my coffee was ready, as it didn't seem like she was making a new pot at all. I explained my situation to her, mentioning that the girl who took my money had simply walked away. The staff member then asked what kind of coffee I wanted and quickly poured it from the pump carafe located right behind the cashier. There was no apology for the wait or the mix-up. Just to note, I had a pleasant experience when I bought macarons the evening before, but today’s service was a complete letdown.
This review focuses solely on their espresso drinks. The barista who prepared my flat white steamed the milk to nearly boiling and poured it in a way that resembled pouring milk into black coffee. The result was burnt-tasting milk. After requesting a replacement, I received a slightly better drink, but it was still disappointing—certainly nothing a capsule espresso machine couldn't outshine. The espresso shot had an earthy flavor with an unpleasant bitterness and a weak body. I won’t be returning.
Good coffee, excellent pastries. Popular, so be prepared to wait in line a bit for your order. I prefer this location (Des Jardins, upper city just below the Chateau Frontenac) with its limited bar seating, to the Notre Dame location, with outdoor tables that always seem to be completely occupied.
Had an Americano and oat milk latte, both were great. They have really good coffee.I was disappointed in the one vegan option, a cookie that might have been raw. The coffee here is excellent, and the atmosphere is charming. They offer milk alternatives without any additional charge, and their oat milk is of high quality. However, the dairy-free food options are somewhat limited, consisting of an oat cookie, an oat bar, and vegan pizza.
