I work in the downtown core and usually bring my lunch to work. Today, I did not and thought I would try Cafe Pyrus.The young woman at cash was lovely and clearly enjoys her job. One of the women behind the counter...not so much. I asked if they offered the downtown employee discount, a partnership program between the Downtown Business Association and some businesses. The woman behind the counter came to the cash and asked where I work (Charles and Ontario). When I told her, she smirked and said "No. We only offer it to people who work at businesses along Charles and the Queen St area. And to people who eat here all the time". Today was the first time my family ate at the cafe. The moment we walked in the staff greeted us warmly. the owner was working behind the counter with his staff (which is awesome). The angry vegan sandwich made me very happy lol the best sandwich i have ever had. the home brewed iced tea was fantastic. I also tried the ceaser salad with coconut bacon (OMG SOOO GOOD ). My morning experience was so great that i went back for a second sandwich a few hours later (one was not enough ). I came here over lunch hour recently with some coworkers and it was my second time here. As a creature of habit, I ordered the same thing again - the Black Bean Burrito. It is so good! It exceeds my expectations being something I would not normally order. It comes with a side of nacho chips as well, and you can choose your dip (I go for guac). The food took probably about 15-20 minutes to arrive, however given how busy it wa and the quality of the food, that was not an issue. Every time I visit downtown, I seem to stumble in here for a coffee and a snack. Coffee is dependably good. I take it black, and it is never burnt or oily. I had a berry muffin today, which was flavourful and filling. This place is always buzzing and was crowded, and maybe a little overly loud, but I guess you can't argue with success. I will definitely return.
I ate in this place multiple times and it is my favorite lunch place in KW.The service IS slow, calling in and ordering upfront is a very good idea, but all food is very fresh, tasty and mostly vegan (they serve dairy cheese which is too sad).All sandwiches I tried were very good. They also serve good coffee.
Definately hands down one of the best places to eat out. My wife and i just started our Vegan Diet, and the sandwiches, salad and soup were simply delicious.We had the Angry Vegan and The Benwich, but everything else looked great. Pricing was good, considering the quality you getA new regular dine out!
I have been a few times in the past few weeks, as I have rehearsal in a nearby space. I always drop in for a medium roast and a treat. Last time was probably the best peanut butter cookie I've ever had. Very creamy texture, delicious. It's always busy, so I guess it is a popular place. I will return.
Great little place in the heart of Kitchener. Close to bus station and a lot of paid parking around the area. Had a chai latte that was a little watery and a coffee cake that was a little too dry for my liking. I enjoyed the environment, so will be back to try it out again
